How we measure your website

If we email you, we quote facts we measured. Here is exactly what we test, so you can repeat every check yourself, free.

1. Mobile PageSpeed score

We use Google's public PageSpeed Insights service with the mobile setting. Scores vary between runs, so we re-test on the day we email you and only mention a score under 50, the point where Google rates performance as poor. To check: open pagespeed.web.dev, enter your address, choose Mobile, and run it a few times.

2. HTTPS

We open your address with https:// in a standard browser engine. By "security warning" we mean the browser will not load the secure version without showing an error. To check: type https:// before your address in your own browser and see whether the page loads cleanly.

3. Copyright year

We read the visible text in your footer. We only mention a single year of 2018 or earlier, such as "© 2016". A range like "2012–2026" is not flagged.
